As a part of the new Britvic contract (see below), 10 new curtain sided trailers from Utility Int. Ltd. have been added to the fleet at the end of May 2000. The trailers are all 13.6M (26 pallets) on air suspension. Six of the trailers have now been liveried for the new Britvic contract in the distinctive Tango Livery.

Britvic Contract

G.W. Sissons & Son Ltd are pleased to announce that the company has been awarded a 3-year contract from Britvic Soft Drinks Ltd to distribute Britvic and Pepsi brand soft drinks throughout the UK. The contract is worth £15M to our company.

The full £60M contract has been awarded to a consortium of three hauliers comprising of Sissons, Eddie Stobart Ltd and James Irlam & Sons Ltd. The three hauliers have formed a Logistics partnership and tendered for the contract against 7 other competitors.

The new contract starts on 1st April 2000, and secures the employment of the workforce at Sissons, who are also recruiting new drivers for the contract. The Company is investing £1.5M in the new contract with the purchase of 22 new maximum weight tractor units which are being added to the Sissons fleet of trucks (see the article below). The new trucks are all going on the road from 1st April 2000. An order has also been placed with Utility International at Northallerton to supply 10 new trailers on 1st May 2000.

Today's fleet is comprised of mainly Seddon-Atkinson T6 tractor units and 13.6 meter curtain sided trailers, which are all based at the new depot on By-pass Park Estate, Sherburn-in-Elmet. By-Pass Park Estate is a new development which is owned and managed by the company.

We have put together a collection of our vintage photographs, the earliest of which date back to the early 1900's.

The History Pictures below illustrate the first ever motor powered truck that was used at Sissons, which we hope will prove to be of great interest to the enthusiast.
